TDA kept up its support for the national relief in cooperation with its partners.

Since November 2022, TDA has been working on emergency response in different vulnerable targets Kebeles of Moyale Woreda of Borena Zone, Oromia region of Ethiopia, to assist the national relief intervention to reduce mortality and morbidity among drought-affected people.

The project began with funding from CFGB through TF Canada in 10 vulnerable target kebeles that are severely affected by the Horn of Africa drought crisis, with still additional communities left unaddressed in the Woreda. TF UK then secured funding from the Scottish government to support three additional kebeles in the Moyale woreda, bringing the total number of kebeles included in the project to 13.

With the additional funds, 3,050 people (1465 females and 1585 males) from 581 (229 female-headed and 352 male-headed) households received a variety of foods (dry rations and supplementary foods).

The three-month ration, which ran from April to June, contained 15 kg of maize, 1.5 kg of pulses, and 0.5 liters of oil. To prevent the worsening of their nutritional state, 70 vulnerable mothers and children were also given supplemental meals with a maize soya blend (CSB).
